| VISITS Reindeer Support Scheme Information
2008 Because of the free-ranging nature of the herd, the females and calves spend the majority of their year out on the free-range making the most of the good grazing. The males, however are more likely to be found either in our large enclosed area on the Cairngorms or at their accessible summer grazing at Glenlivet, from May until September. This means that you are more likely to be able to see the male reindeer over the year. There are daily trips to see the reindeer on the Cairngorms. These leave from the Centre in Glenmore at 11am everyday from the February half-term until the end of the New Year holidays, with an additional 2.30pm trip during the summer months of May to September. It is also possible to visit the Glenlivet herd. To do this, prior arrangements have to be made via the Reindeer Centre, and visits have to be confined to the summer months, because during the winter the ground is very inaccessible., |
